December 21, 2015 - InCoax Networks, leading supplier of innovative access solutions for fast broadband over existing coaxial networks, has acquired an order from one of Norway’s leading hotel chains. InCoax will deliver its IP over Coax access solution to 38 hotels with a total of around 5 400 rooms. Installation has started and will be finished during the spring season.

Today, hotel guest wants to be connected and the hotels wants to be able to use IP-based services such as information, streaming applications like Spotify and Netflix and other forms of entertainment. This requires an Internet connection in the hotel room. Traditional WiFi networks, installed in the hallways, cannot provide a connection stable enough for handheld devices.

New cabling is expensive and troublesome to install. The cost for new data networks has until now been a barrier to the introduction of room-based IP solutions in the hotel industry. It is cheaper to utilize existing infrastructure and all hotels has coaxial networks. The InCoax IPoC technology utilizes these to give Internet connections in each room.

The InCoax platform makes cost-effective delivery of IP services to the rooms possible. It contains Coax Link Manager, Coax Link Controller and Coax Access Modem. The platform is future-proof due to its flexible, scalable and robust design. InCoax RoomWiFi gives better support for handheld devices, such as smartphones and tablets.

– Our solution is designed to meet the requirements for all sizes of hotels when they are to be equipped with new interactive IP services in order to satisfy their guests demand to always be offline, says Helge Tiainen, CPM, InCoax Networks.

The InCoax technology is already installed in a number of hotels, in Europe, and is also used in offshore accommodation platforms and vessels.
